Cropping Patterns of Annual Crops: A Remote Sensing Review
نویسندگان
چکیده
Cropping patterns are defined as the sequence and spatial arrangement of annual crops on a piece land. Knowledge cropping is crucial for crop production land-use intensity. While related to land use intensity, they rarely reported in agricultural statistics, especially those relating small farms developing countries. Remote sensing has enabled mapping by monitoring crops’ temporal dynamics. In this paper, we reviewed remote studies single, sequential intercropping practiced at local regional scales. A total 90 were selected from 753 publications based their pattern types relevance scope review. The review found that despite increase single due Sentinel missions, rare, suggesting still challenging. More so, microwave not been fully explored. Given complexities intercropping, our highlights how less frequently used vegetation indices (VIs) benefit red-edge SWIR spectral bands may improve mapping.

Mapping Cropping Practices of a Sugarcane-Based Cropping System in Kenya Using Remote Sensing
Over the recent past, there has been a growing concern on the need for mapping cropping practices in order to improve decision-making in the agricultural sector. We developed an original method for mapping cropping practices: crop type and harvest mode, in a sugarcane landscape of western Kenya using remote sensing data. At local scale, a temporal series of 15-m resolution Landsat 8 images was ...
متن کاملRemote Sensing for Determining Evapotranspiration and Irrigation Demand for Annual Crops
Evapotranspiration (ETc) is the mean for exploiting irrigation water and constitutes a major component of the hydrological cycle (Telis et al., 2007; Papadavid, 2011). The ETc is a basic and crucial parameter for climate studies, weather forecasts and weather modeling, hydro‐ logical surveys, ecological monitoring and water resource management (Hoedjes et al., 2008). In the past decades, the es...
متن کاملAdvances in Classification of Crops using Remote Sensing Data
Remote sensing is an efficient technology and worthy source of earth surface information, as it can capture images of reasonably large area on the earth. Due to advancement in the sensor technologies there is availability of high spatial as well as spectral resolutions imageries, and also non imaging Spectroradiometer. With the use of these imaging and non-imaging data we can easily characteriz...
